Aandhimul Primary school (85 students) is situated in Bandipur VDC, Tanahun. It is 135 km far from the capital, Kathmandu. SEF supported this school from 2002-2008. During this time SEF supported renovations and addition of two classrooms to the school building carried out by community members. SEF also provided a clean water supply, fencing, parents' awareness campaign for quality education, six-monthly de-worming program for all students, an early childhood development (ECD) class, lunch program, stationary support, sports material, the salary for an ECD teacher and peon, and financial and technical support for the newly established educational saving group. SEF brought four children to Kathmandu for health care requiring hospitalization and surgery (see SEF health program). Parents now very actively participate in school activities. In 2009, a new NGO began to work with this community and school. SEF remains in contact with the school and community, but from 2009 will not provide sponsorship.
